Studio Ghibli’s *Princess Mononoke*, directed by the legendary Hayao Miyazaki, is a breathtaking anime masterpiece of epic proportions. The story follows Prince Ashitaka, a noble young warrior who suffers a deadly curse from a corrupted boar god while defending his village. Forced into exile, Ashitaka travels westward to find a cure and discovers a fierce, ongoing war between human industrialization and the ancient spirits of the forest. Caught in the middle are Lady Eboshi, the ambitious ruler of Irontown who seeks to clear the woods for iron production, and San (Princess Mononoke), a fierce human girl raised by wolf gods who will stop at nothing to defend nature. Rejecting simple notions of good and evil, Ashitaka strives to act with unclouded eyes, seeking a peaceful harmony where humanity and nature can coexist.
